Le Potazzine is a women-run estate in Montalcino, founded in 1993 by Gigliola Giannetti on a high-altitude plateau at over 500 meters above sea level. At that altitude, few believed Sangiovese would ripen properly. Today, those same vineyards are recognized as some of the best in the denomination.
We work with Gigliola and her daughters Viola and Sofia because their approach is exactly what we look for: indigenous yeast fermentations, no temperature control, long macerations of 30 to 45 days, and aging in traditional Slavonian oak. Nothing added, nothing forced.
Today, Violais the winemaker, and Sofia manages exports. Together, they've kept the estate's obsessive focus on balance, elegance, and purity.
