Bugey sits between Savoie and Jura in eastern France, shaped by Alpine geology and a climate that keeps alcohol levels in check and acidity bright. Yves Duport converted the estate entirely to organic and biodynamic farming in 2007, a decision he describes as giving freedom to nature.
The estate has expanded over four generations to nearly 10 hectares. The Vieilles Vignes cuvée comes from the oldest vines on those parcels, which naturally produce less fruit but fruit of higher quality and greater concentration. In the cellar, indigenous yeasts and low sulphur preserve aromatic purity, and lees aging accentuates the depth that those old vines provide.
