ASHWIN'S REFLECTION:
Bugey is one of France’s smallest wine regions sitting between Savoie and Jura and is shaped by alpine influences. Yves Duport is the 4th generation of the family in the trade, and his focus is on making minimal intervention wines that finesse the alpine vines and in his quest for finesse gives the older vines naturally produce less fruit but higher quality fruit. These old Chardonnay vines provide more depth, which Yves accentuates with aging on the lees.
