Grillo is one of Sicily's indigenous white grapes that was originally linked to the production of sweet wine from western Sicily, specifically Marsala.
The Caruso family is reclaiming the narrative around white wine from western Sicily by highlighting Grillo as a dry white wine with depth and finesse, something that Marsala is often characterized as lacking.
Much less well-known than its Eastern-Sicily counterparts, the Caruso family aims to earn western Sicily wines a place at our table, and deservedly so, in my opinion.
