Wonderwerk was founded in 2017 by high school friends Issamu Kamide and Andrew Lardy, who felt the traditional wine industry wasn't speaking to their generation.
The name comes from Wonderwerk Cave in South Africa's Northern Cape, one of the oldest archaeological sites on earth and home to some of the earliest evidence of humans using fire to cook, a place where humans first started manipulating nature for pleasure and sustenance.
That spirit runs through the wines: organically farmed grapes, spontaneous fermentation, unfined and unfiltered, with both low-intervention and innovative techniques in the cellar. The Big Juicy is their flagship: a 1-liter, chillable, share-with-everyone bottle that does exactly what it says.
