Château Cambon sits between the Morgon and Brouilly crus in Beaujolais, and its story is inseparable from one of the most important chapters in natural wine history. In 1995, Marcel and Marie Lapierre took over the estate alongside Jean-Claude Chanudet, bringing with them a philosophy rooted in terroir and traditional working methods.
Marcel was part of the famous "Gang of Four," the group of Beaujolais producers who, under the influence of Jules Chauvet in the early 1980s, pioneered the minimal-intervention winemaking that defines the region's most exciting wines today. In 2022, Alexandre Iwasuila joined the estate to gradually take over its management, continuing to farm organically and make wine with the same deep respect for the environment that Marcel established. The whole philosophy here, native yeast fermentations, no added sulfur, letting the Gamay speak for itself, is exactly why I love Cambon.
