TASTING NOTES:
Blackberry, cherry, and tar - lovely, serious aromas.
Lightly smokey w/ pepperiness; jerky + black pepper
Jammy fruit + asphalt
Quite velvety on the palate - feels luxurious and opulent. Bright acidity w/ grippy tannins that linger.
FOOD PAIRING RECOMMENDATION:
Jamón Ibérico
or
Paella w/ sausage
or
Christmas roast and/or leg of lamb w/ berry coulis
ASHWIN'S REFLECTION:
Tempranillo is a bit of an in-betweener in terms of how widely consumed it is in the US, and it has had its ups & downs over the years. I LOVE it because it is unapologetically Spanish → chill but can be serious; drink it at midnight + loud but in an endearing way. This expression is fascinating w/ some amphora-aging, and I think it’s special. Do you?
