ASHWIN'S REFLECTION:
Nino Barraco aims to rewrite the story of wine in Marsala, Sicily. The western Sicilian region fell out of favor some decades ago, having been known for sweet wines, and Nino takes a modern approach by trying to allow the vineyards and their natural oceanic exposure to speak for themselves. Nino practices organic farming with utmost respect for nature and for western Sicily’s potential to express terroir in a glass. A blend of Grillo, Catarratto, and Zibibbo with delicate skin contact brings into the bottle one of the most delightful expressions of what wine from western Sicily can be.
