Rebel Winemakers was one of my favorite themes I've put together for the club, and the wines were popular enough that I knew I wanted to find a way to get them in front of non-members too.
These are wines from a fourth-generation winemaker in the Italian Dolomites who borrowed a technique from sourdough bread-making to ferment his Barbera, a Croatian producer treating a grape that everyone else dismissed as a high-yield workhorse like it deserves to be taken seriously, and Luis Pato, one of the biggest self-proclaimed rebellious figures in Portuguese wine, making sparkling rosé from 100% Baga at a time when most of his neighbors had given up on it.
And that's just naming a few.
