ASHWIN'S REFLECTION:
Franz Weninger farms vineyards and makes wine on both sides of the Austria-Hungary border, and while he often blends across borders (because the terroir is quite similar despite lines on a map), this wine comes solely from the Hungary side — in Sopron. Fehérburgundi is the Hungarian name for Pinot Blanc with 'Fehér' meaning "white" and 'Burgundi' meaning, well, "from Burgundy". Originally, the family had ordered Pinot Noir, but the nursery had mistakenly delivered Fehérburgundi, which for the first 7-8 years, Franz was quite annoyed about, but now he finds that it's actually even better suited than Pinot Noir would have been!
