Six wines from Maine to the Western Cape, proof that the New World has plenty to say. This isn't the Old World canon of France and Italy: it's the frontier regions writing their own rules.

This shipment spans a pét-nat from the Maine coast, a chillable red made from Vermont hybrids, a field blend from Victoria, Australia, a cool-climate Cinsault, a juicy, floral red from Chile, and a Barossa rosé with old-vine backbone.

WHY THIS MATTERS

I don't reach for New World wines as often as I probably should. Most of what ends up in the club leans Old World, so this month I wanted to flip that on its head.

Winemaking outside Europe is still young by comparison, which means there's more room for winemakers to break rules the Old World has followed for centuries. This shipment highlights a handful of producers doing exactly that: chasing character over convention, in places most people never think to look.
