TASTING NOTES:
Nose: apricot, thyme — both fresh + dried, strawberry, crushed pine needles, persimmon, key lime, dried pineapple + hint of guava
Palate: Earthy notes come forward on the palate with some hints of mushroom + straw which is lifted by the wine’s bright acidity + closes with gentle tannins.
FOOD PAIRING RECOMMENDATION:
Roast pork with crispy skin + apricot glaze
or
buffalo chicken wings
or
smoked eggplant w/ pomegranate seeds
ASHWIN'S REFLECTION:
A standout wine from Oszkar that is a testament to Serbian terroir + Serbian varieties including Szerémi Zöld, Bakator, Tamjanika, Mézes Fehér that offers complexity, depth, and longevity — both in the glass and in the cellar. This expression is a field blend, whereby the vines are harvested together and then co-fermented, i.e. all the grapes are fermented together, already blended (in the field, before the winery) as opposed to fermenting individually and blending after the fact. The result is a wine that has less direct influence from the winemaker but is even more representative of terroir because you’re essentially controlled for the variable of grape variety.
