TASTING NOTES:
Nose: austere, mineral-y, under-ripe fruit
Hints of leather, white cherry, green pear that sits behind a chalky minerality backbone underpinning this wine; grapefruit pith
Palate: Linear, direct, mineral-y on the palate as well with citrus and breadiness — creamy and chalky finish
FOOD PAIRING RECOMMENDATION:
Chicken and mushroom vol-au-vent (or pot-pie would be similar)
or
Spinach and cheese tart, something even like spanakopita
ASHWIN'S REFLECTION:
Arthur Lelièvre returned to his family estate in 2014, representing the 6th generation in the family. He took some time to reflect and discover his own style before beginning to produce Champagne under his own name and label. Arthur embarked on a transformative journey towards lower intervention practices, including discontinuing the use of pesticides in the vineyards. Arthur vinifies a more serious, mineral style of Champagne that, while it’s not for everyone, is wonderful for those who appreciate that style of wine.
