TASTING NOTES:
Jammy black fruits - blackberry, plum/prune, fruit jerky; tobacco a bit and lightly spearmint w/ some raspberry. Dried roots/earthy → mossy. Also violet floral.
Juicy on the palate w/ lively acidity, delicate tannins and wonderful fruits + earth. :)
FOOD PAIRING RECOMMENDATION:
Honey-baked ham
or
mutton biryani
or
sweet + spicy wings
or
baked camembert
ASHWIN'S REFLECTION:
Mondeuse is a bit of a rarity, but it’s a variety capable of depth + finesse, as we see here. You can feel the cool alpine nights in this wine → bright acidity, juicy, and herbaceous/minty. Savoie is a region in France that you may not know about, but it’s simply delightful for wintery, Alpine reds.
