ASHWIN'S REFLECTION:
I first met Lorenzo, the 5th generation in the Scavino family at the Azelia estate back in 2019 at a wine tasting/dinner event in Washington DC, and I’ve had the chance to visit with him in Barolo as well, and what has struck me the most each time we meet is his demeanor. He carries himself in a way that exudes poise and discipline, which are both so readily apparent in his and his family’s wines. The family takes such an active and precise approach to the winemaking including careful selection at harvest from already low-yielding vines given their age which result in simply stunning wines.
