ASHWIN'S REFLECTION:
Piquette has historically been a style of wine meant for folks who couldn't afford wine because of the way it's made, but it has recently developed into a style that is starting to be recognized (in niche circles) for its drinkability. What makes Piquette unique is that it's made from grape pomace: the leftover grape skins/seeds/stems/etc. after pressing for winemaking. That pomace still has plenty of flavor and sugar remaining, so instead of wasting it, it's resoaked in water and then fermented and, in this case, bottled during fermentation, resulting in a fizzy/spritzy, light, chillable red made from 100% Frankovka
